Alex Haley / Kunta Kinte Memorial, The City Dock, Annapolis, MD

This is a tribute to the renowned author of 'Roots,' Alex Haley, and his search for his true African heritage. Mr. Haley's ancestor, the African slave Kunta Kinte, landed on this very dock in the 17th Century. Haley is depicted here reading his book 'Roots' to a group of children.

The sculpture was installed in December, 1999.
